The Czech Paragliding League is a competition series that has a long, interesting history and has enjoyed little participation in recent years. (In 2007, only 52 competitors!) We therefore decided to revive the competition and bring it closer to more pilots and their possibilities.
Our main goal is to increase the interest of pilots to fly league races and thus help them in their development. After all, perhaps all our pilots who have achieved and are achieving success gathered their first experience not only with competitive flying in the Czech league.
So we ask ourselves what will attract more pilots to league races? It could be said that every pilot who flies the Czech Cup could fly the league - moreover, I see several benefits here compared to when I fly alone on the hill.
The most important thing for me is the opportunity to observe the events on the ground and in the air. (and there is also someone to ask). Ground support and all important information is provided, so during the race the pilots have the same opportunity to decide on flight tactics, they are almost always in sight, they start from the same start, they fly in the same direction to the same destination at a similar time (it will help me to see how (where anyone has dealt with the current weather situation, I learn and develop a feeling for flight weather). However, everyone has a different motivation for flying the league.
What is being prepared:
- FAI race category 2 (we want to help the organizers to ensure this status for each race, it will certainly help to attract more foreign pilots)
- promotion on the website, where there will be clear information about the league (to make it easier for pilots to find their way around and to help popularize the races)
- attractive evaluation of individual rounds on the website, analysis of treklogs at once, where the idea is the commentary of an experienced pilot
Our opinions on solving the presented problem differ and therefore we present several questions for public discussion:
- An existing model would suit you, i.e. three separate races with a fixed date? If not, what model do you suggest?
- What are your thoughts on more shorter races? For example, the 4th or 5th race for 4-5 days, scheduled so that the coverage covers as few working days as possible (holidays and weekends).
- Alternative dates due to bad weather? The race should be set for the main and a week later for the alternate date. It would be a complication or a pleasant option for you. Alternatively, what difficulties would you have with changing your holiday at the last minute?
- When and how do you decide to participate in the competition? By venue, holiday days, date, venue, weather, last minute, pre-season?
- What is the most decisive criterion for your participation? what was the first thing that came to your mind...Would it motivate you to participate if at the end of the flight day there was an analysis of the treklogs made by an experienced pilot on a projector?
- Would you welcome more races in the Czech Republic or abroad?
- Would you welcome a race in the Czech Republic with starts from winders?

We are interested in your opinions and intend to use them to prepare LA 2008 model.
