On March 17, 1990, the founding Conference of the CSFR LAA was held in Brno, which was preceded by meetings of various groups and subsequently by the preparatory committee in December 1989.
The aviation amateur association has set itself the goal of organizing a new aviation movement of hang-gliding, paragliding, ultralight aircraft and motorized hang-glider pilots, as well as the builders of these aircraft.
The aviation amateur association was modeled after the pre-war Masaryk Aviation League, which was founded on March 7, 3.
Over time, LAA ČR developed into its present form, which is unique within Europe. LAA ČR is a state-authorized organization for certification, issuance of pilot licenses and operation of sports flying devices (or SFD) in the Czech Republic.
SFD includes paragliders (paragliding), motorized paragliding, hang gliders (rogala), autogyrocraft, helicopters, aircraft controlled by changing the center of gravity, aerodynamically controlled aircraft, amateur-built (ELSA) and professionally manufactured ultralight aircraft up to a take-off weight of 600 kg, and ultralight gliders.
