Flying yourself with an ultralight helicopter differs from flying in "grown-up" helicopters mainly due to a significantly lower price. Compared to aerodynamically controlled ultralights, they are as different from them as normal airplanes are from normal helicopters. This is a category of SFD that has not yet become widespread.
Acquisition costs are relatively high. Amateur construction is not permitted for UL helicopters. The price of factory-produced aircraft ranges from CZK 2 million upwards.
Flying with an ultralight is clearly the most expensive of all sports flying devices. The cost of operating your own aircraft depends on several factors. One factor is the consumption of operating materials, which varies from approx. 14 l to 20 l/hour. Another item is the cost of storing the aircraft. The annual rent for space in the hangar ranges from CZK 15 to 30. Tens of thousands are the costs of mandatory company service inspections.
There are pilot training centers that provide flight training on a professional basis.
The UL helicopter is the least dependent of all aircraft on take-off and landing surfaces and is best suited to observing the earth's surface from the air. Unlike all other categories, it can stop in the air. However, the disadvantage is very high acquisition and operating costs.
