How to become a PG pilot

After completing the training, the pilot will move to LAA web portal. Here you will get detailed information about the next steps. 3. Physically obtaining a pilot's license

  1. Personal identification card certified by the operational inspector.
  2. A medical certificate issued by a designated aviation physician. For free non-motorized flying on a single-seat PK and ZK and on a single-seat motor PK, it is possible to have examination by a general practitioner.
  3. A color passport-sized photo - legibly marked with the name. It can also be sent by e-mail, but only in JPEG format and with a resolution of up to 200 dpi.
  4. Proof of payment of the administrative fee (transfer order, possibly a copy of the receipt, type C only) – more information about prices here. if you are applying for a qualification at the same time, the fees are added together. 4. Creating an account with LAA

1. All information about LAA membership hereMembership in the LAA is not mandatory, but the advantage is the possibility of taking out mandatory statutory insurance. If the pilot is not a member of the LAA, he must take out mandatory insurance individually abroad.

3.   Voluntary registration with the PG Association – for membership in the PG Association and the possibility of drawing benefits, it is enough to tick the PG Association membership in the LAA application – if the pilot does not tick the PG Association membership, he/she does not automatically become a member of the Association. Contributions to the LAA payments are divided between all 4 associations associated with the LAA, and for non-members of the PG Association, the PG Association receives only 1/4 of the amount intended for the PG associations from the contributions. The PG Association subsequently uses this amount to support its members.           Benefits of membership in the PG Association:

    • lower entry fees at races supported by the PG Association

7. In the case of operation in the Czech Republic, the pilot is covered by statutory health insurance in the event of an accident and treatment. In the case of travel outside the Czech Republic, one cannot rely on agreements on the provision of health care within the EU and it is necessary to take out separate travel insurance for paragliding. This insurance is not mandatory and each pilot has the option of taking out travel insurance of their choice with an insurance company that includes dangerous and risky sports in the insurance coverage.
