Brazil Charlie

Every year at the end of the year, many pilots relocate to distant destinations to extend their flying year. It was no different this year, when many moved to India and Brazil, and both destinations brought a lot of interesting things.

So our November themed bookmark series will now be replaced by the Brazil / India series. This week we reported on an article that appeared in Cross Country (unfortunately due to rights we cannot publish) but…. we have prepared our own interview for you. In about a week, a big interview with Standa Klikar and Hugo Hadaš will be published in the Czech Pilot, in which we will introduce you to flying in Brazil. We will subsequently publish the interview here on the website.

Subsequently, you will be able to look forward to the second Brazilian part, in which Petr Ďorď and Ondra Procházka will share their feelings, this time about the low cost variant. After that, you will be able to look forward to the very interesting story of the Czech pilot from India, Michal Kárnik, who waited for rescue on a rock for several hours this year and was subsequently evacuated in the undercarriage of a helicopter with a dramatic range... all about this and also about what others experienced in India pilots, not only in other issues of the Pilot, but also here on the association's website.

Brazil Charlie

First, however, we will recycle for you (with the permission of Karel Vejchodský and the editors of Pilot magazine), a very nice interview about Brazil in 2013 (Pilot 12/2013). Charlie or also Entrance or Karel Vejchodsky, whom the pilots had the chance to meet in the last Quiz on FB and IG of the Union, talks to Vojta Šaman and tells us not only about Brazil 2013, but also about his relationship to flying. A fantastic pilot, the current holder of the longest Czech flight (335 km, which he flew in 2008!), a nice guy, a successful entrepreneur and one of the three founders of the Czech Paragliding Cup within pgweb in 2006 (together with Jakub Havel and Petr Chromec).

It was my fifth time in northeastern Brazil. Nicene Brazil is a huge country and also the conditions are quite different in each part. In the NE area, which I mainly visit, there are really interesting flying conditions from October to December. The eastern equatorial trade wind is drier than other parts of the year and turns into a thermal paradise above the scorching karjina. The accompanying phenomenon of flying here is mainly the wind, basically only gusts fly here, maybe the strong wind could surprise someone at the start. This year we went to strange places, for most pilots who are interested in overflights from Brazil, terms like Quixadá or Patu are certainly nothing new...
