#1. day

After a year, the pilots meet again at the Vejsplachy camp in Vrchlabí to complete this year's XC league.
After the Friday evening and Saturday morning registration of the task committee composed of Lukáš Hadaš, Standa Klikar and Jonáš Horáček kept watching their phone screens and carefully decided whether it would be possible to start in the weather that Saturday offered.
After the welcome briefing, it was already clear that the only place it would be possible to go to is the nearby Polish Rudnik. The starting point in a NW direction with a beautiful view of the other side, not quite known to Czechs, the Krkonoše mountains.
The pilots arrived at the starting point about 40 minutes away, walked 2,7 km along the forest road to the start, and gradually everyone took off. The vast starting place, but the lower altitude above the trees, not unlike Kozákov, often makes the pilots a little uneasy, but yesterday, in addition to the sun and the forming cumulus clouds, there was also a wind of ideal direction and strength over Rudnik.
The task committee announced the rounds with the gates open for 10 min. Michal Talavašek was the first to take to the air, followed by Standa Klikar, Jonášem, Miloš Diviš, Dawid Krol, Lukáš, Hugo and Kvid Hadaš, Oťas Husička, and some of these pilots were ready for the start as soon as the whistle blew to open the first gate. Staník, Tála, Hugo, Quido, Jonáš they started forward.
Lukáš Hadaš was supposed to be the first to land at the Kowarská landing, but he pulled 65 agl above the landing and completed the second gate - the second group and they pelted behind the first group.
All these pilots were eventually brought down by a huge black cloud after 20 km. Thanks to XContest, you can watch the live race on the live track, even with highlighted circles, directly at the race address here. https://www.xcontest.org/krkonose/live/
The race, ultimately scored 160 points for the winner, went as follows:
1. Stand Klikar
2. Quido Hadas
3. Hugo Hadaš

2 day

On the second day, we only need to write that the organizers took the cross-country pilots through the beauty of the Krkonoše Mountains and the Bohemian Paradise. The pilots looked at the Kozákov to see what this paragliding constant looks like as the front passes north of it. Unfortunately, there was not only a demonstration around the passing queue, she chose the path directly over the hill.
The precipitation was regular, there was a lot of water.
So the pilots returned to the camp, where a heated wooden sauna, paddleboard races, swimming, squash, a party and a rich raffle awaited.
The pilots are in a good mood, which will probably be spoiled today at the briefing by the task committee and the forecast for today. But hope dies last, at camp waiting for the weather model updates in the morning and then we'll see what the day brings.
The third task of the Krkonoše Open race again did not allow the pilots to make regular starts. The task committee waited, acted, prayed - in the end, however, it was clear that the wind was too high, so the pilots split into groups and each spent the day differently.
Everyone started the day with a great breakfast - traditionally from Pekárny Josef Rýdl, then they had a discussion with the swans in the camp, and then some went to the mountains, some went swimming, some shot archery, rode a paddleboard, some went squash, some gained experience as a team leader at FAI 1 races. Some went to fly to the only possible hotspot in the area – Bohdašín, 77 minutes away.
In the evening, when everyone gathered at the Sauna, which he prepared and managed all evening Miroslav Fejt they looked satisfied and all looked forward to the next day, the supposed best day of the race.
4. day
Yesterday, the pilots at the UP Krkonoše Open woke up to a beautiful day, full of hope that a long and nutritious task will be flown.
After breakfast, the pilots quickly moved to Černá hora in the Giant Mountains, where the task committee issued an 85 km task.
The beautiful weather and the presence of a huge number of other pilots made it clear that today would be the D-day of racing.
The pilots took off exactly on time, ready on the edge of the starting circle like predators on their prey, and almost immediately the first group that shot forward (approx. 10 pilots) separated. Gradually, groups formed, each took a different track, some could not handle the mild windows without thermals and landed - the first just around the first turning point.
The first two pilots arrive at the ESS almost at the same time, 25 seconds apart in the results. The first to arrive at ESS Jonáš Pilot burner on the blue and white Enzo and in the sky we see Hugo Hadaš crossing the moment behind him on the red Niviuk. Both of our juniors were landing away from the city, across the water. Hugo was the first to go to the landing and decided to take a close look at the camping sauna, surrounded by birch trees. Hard to say if it would Jonáš, who was flying right behind him, took the same track, we will never know that, because he finally chose to look at the sauna from below - he was stopped by the water.
The average of the racing task – 34 km/h gives an idea that we have a lot to look forward to.
Subsequently, both of them, while drying and going around the strategically hung birch tree, wait for the third Kája Kůta, the fourth Standa Klikar, the fifth Tomáš Drnec and others. The first two weren't the only ones trying to brighten up the campers' afternoon, but all wings and all pilots are perfectly fine.
While the first group flew the race task in 2 hours and a few minutes, while the pilots were choosing the destination beer, evaluating the flight, packing, while the organizers were preparing the announcement, more and more pilots were gradually arriving. The camp was waiting for the arrival of the last pilots who were fighting against time - the pilot's feet had to be on the ground at 17:45 p.m. and some of them could barely make it.
We should also highlight the excellent performances of the EN-B category pilots, who coped with today's task perfectly and flew to the finish line.
The Krkonoše mountains confirmed the trend established in the Beskydy Mountains – two Czech juniors took the first two OPEN places, another, Kvido Hadaš, took 6th place, Jirka Kopecký 8th place. Lukáš Karlík placed 21st, Marek Rieger 25th, Vojta Pospíchal 35th and Denis Ulč 38th.
