Czech pilots of ultralight aircraft again in the top ranks at LA 2024 World Championship: Defending the title of world champion and silver achievements in other categories

This year, the WMC 2024 Ultralight World Championship took place in Deenethorpe, England, and Czech pilots again achieved extraordinary successes. Among the greatest triumphs are the defense of the title of world champion and the overall success with a number of silver medals, which confirm the high level of the Czech aviation team.

Marek Velát: World champion in the AL1 single-seater category

Marek Velát once again confirmed Czech dominance in the category of single-seat aircraft. After Jiří Krajča's victory at the last World Championship, he was able to win gold again this year and thus defend the title of world champion in this category for the Czech Republic. His performance was mesmerizing and he excelled in all roles. His skills were appreciated by both judges and competitors.

Silver achievements of Czech pilots

In addition to Marko Velát, Václav Puža also shone, taking a great second place in the same AL1 category. In the AL2 two-seater aircraft category, the Czech team showed its clear dominance. Lukáš Kučera and Jan Pařez took second place, securing the silver medal for the world vice-champions. Only a few points behind them, Lukáš Běhounek and Kryštof Bobek finished in third place. Their performance was only a few points below that of the silver crew, indicating a very close and exciting race down to the last task. Another 4 Czech crews made it into the top ten, which means clear Czech dominance in the AL2 aircraft category.

Another silver medal was brought by Matouš Adam and Ladislav Teplý in the category of two-seater motorized rogals WL2. Their precision during the flights secured them a superb second place just behind the home British crew in first place.

The crew of Filip Vita and Tomáš Procházka for athletes under 26 also celebrated success.

Overall success of the Czech team

The overall results of the Czech pilots brought the Czech Republic second place in the overall ranking of nations. This success is a testament not only to the individual qualities of the pilots, but also to the excellent teamwork and support provided by the Aviation Amateur Association.
