Tomáš Drnec (Drny), a child of the mountains, who naturally played sports from an early age, skied, snowboarded, and as a junior tried a not quite mountain discipline - he became a member of the junior baseball team. At home, in Svoboda nad Úpou, he often saw wings flying overhead, but he only encountered paragliding up close at the Extremcup relay race in nearby Janské Lázně, where he competed in his section on a snowboard. He started hunting, followed by a pilot's license in 2005 and then, although he would have liked to fly, he also got married and the development of flying did not happen. He started flirting again after the divorce and he flirted well with his brother.
Around 2016, he received an incentive from Michal Šnejberg to try the races, and since Drny is not a slouch, he tried them - at the MČR 2016. However, his greatest success did not occur until around 2020, when a natural responsibility allowed him to spread his wings - a converted cottage.
About 4 years ago, Tomáš started to devote himself more to racing, which he has to combine very well with his work - as a Naval Inland Navigation ship captain, he cannot simply run away from work when the temperature is good, his boat is usually not located on land and, moreover, near frequented starting points. Nevertheless, he was able to combine this passion of his with work and flew his place in the Czech XC paragliding team.
Tomáš is very energetic, fluent in several world languages, and is a long-term loyal member of the Krkonoše Czech Cup team "Kokotíci".
Tomáš is currently ranked 116th in the world rankings. Last year he placed an excellent 14th at the PWC race in Brazil and brought second place to LA 21st INTERNATIONALER SCHMITTEN POKAL 2023. His most valuable flight was LA 101km FAI Triangle from Montenegro.
