CheersWe received the following incident report through the Institute for the Investigation of the Causes of Air Accidents (ÚZPLN):
"ÚZPLN received a notification from ATS of an incident that occurred on 24/10/2015 during the flight of helicopter R 44, OK-EIN, when it was inside CTR Brno-Tuřany (D, 5000 ft AMSL/GND) in Alt. 1700 ft and PIC reported at the level of the city district Modřice, approximately 3 NM south-west of Brno-Tuřany airport, minutes with a white motorized paraglider (MPG) in the water, which was above it and could have approximately Alt. 2000 ft and headed for the airport. Subsequently, TWR was able to see through the telescope30 paragliders that turned and headed south in the direction of Whiskey Point. Information about unknown traffic - MPG was transmitted to other aircraft for about XNUMX minutes, MPG traffic was observed from TWR with binoculars until it left CTR at the level of Whiskey Point.
After contacting the helicopter pilot, we found out that it was a motorized parachute tricycle with a mostly white canopy. It was also possible to secure a radar image from the time of the event, which shows the position of the helicopter.
During the investigation it was discoveredo that this is not one of the MPK pilots associated in the local community.
We consider this case of violation of the CTR by a motorized paraglider to be dangerous for several reasons. The MPK is not visible on the secondary radar screen. Aircraft pilots moving in the CTR assume that there will be no unannounced traffic. They can only see it visually. In addition, the MPK is, especially on friendly courses, very small in silhouette and easy to miss, and this increases the danger of the guard. The MPK pilot, despite the fact that he would have spotted the approaching large fast aircraft, is unable to effectively avoid it due to his capabilities. He thus endangers not only his own life, but also that of the crew and passengers of other planes.
Local MPK pilots try to maintain correct relations with Tuřany airport, and such an individual ruins the trust that has been built up over the long term.
