On 6.5. on a randomly selected meadow near Měrotín, a paraglider pilot had a serious accident. A group of 5 people without valid pilot's licenses, one person with a pilot's license that had lapsed for eight years, decided to practice PK takeoffs. During the unexpected take-off of the young woman to a height of approx. 5 m, the canopy collapsed due to a thermal gust and the female pilot fell to the ground without any protection or helmet in the seat. She suffered severe injuries, including a brain injury.
I ask all pilots to leave the practice of take-offs and short flights low above the ground, which are especially important to potential future pilots, to qualified instructors. This activity looks safe, but the flight low above the ground is, for understandable reasons, the riskiest.
